Cross-linked polyethylene piping is more unyielding to burst pressure, reliable in freezing temperatures, and requires fewer joints due to its superior flexibility. Expansion fittings, especially those used with PEX pipes, are designed to have a smooth interior surface. This design minimizes turbulence and friction to allow full water flow. SharkBite Expansion fittings are compatible with all PEX-A tubing from any manufacturer. Expansion fittings are quick and easy to install. Cut pipe to proper length and slide the expansion ring over the PEX-A tubing. Use a manual PEX expansion tool, or a cordless PEX expansion tool to insert and hold fitting in place until the expansion ring and tube contracts tightly.
