Product Overview
Brand: Lil Red Barn
Features:
- COMPLETE IGNITION TUNE-UP KIT FOR KOHLER K-SERIES CAST IRON ENGINES — Includes breaker points, condenser, and Champion H10 spark plug. These are the three ignition wear items that cause hard starting, weak spark, and misfiring on vintage Kohler K-series engines. Replacing all three together is the standard first step when bringing a stored or hard-starting engine back into service.
- FITS KOHLER K90, K91, K141, K161, K181, K241, K301, K321, K341, AND K361 — Compatible with the full range of Kohler K-series cast iron SINGLE-cylinder engines, from the small K90 through the 18 HP K361. These engines powered garden tractors, generators, and equipment from the 1960s through the 1980s. Verify your engine model before ordering.
- REPLACES KOHLER OEM PART NUMBERS — Breaker points replace Kohler 47-150-03-S (also 47 150 03, 4715003S). Condenser replaces Kohler 230722-S (also 230722, 230722S). Spark plug is a H10 (also listed as H10C). If your Kohler service manual or parts diagram references these numbers, this kit contains what you need.
- SINGLE-CYLINDER ENGINES ONLY — NOT FOR K-SERIES TWINS — This kit fits Kohler K-series cast iron SINGLE-cylinder engines only. It does NOT fit the K-series twin-cylinder engines (K482, K532, K582, K662) or the KT-series twins (KT17, KT19, KT21), which use different points and condensers. Check that your engine is a single-cylinder K-series before ordering.
- MANUFACTURED AND STOCKED BY LIL RED BARN — Selling quality small engine parts since 2014. We specialize in hard-to-find parts for vintage engines that manufacturers no longer support. Lil Red Barn also offers a points-and-condenser set without the spark plug, and a complete ignition kit that adds the coil and plug wire. Backed by responsive U.S.-based customer service.

CROSS-REFERENCES KOHLER OEM PART NUMBERS Breaker points: 47-150-03-S (also 47 150 03, 4715003S) Condenser: 230722-S (also 230722, 230722S) Spark plug: Champion H10 (also H10C) WHY REPLACE ALL THREE TOGETHER On breaker-point ignition systems, the points, condenser, and spark plug degrade together over time. Worn points lose their proper gap and burn or pit. A failing condenser causes points to arc and burn prematurely, and produces a weak spark. A fouled or worn spark plug compounds both problems. Because a failing condenser will quickly ruin new points, replacing them as a set is standard practice rather than replacing one item at a time. OTHER KITS AVAILABLE FROM LIL RED BARN Points and condenser only — for buyers whose spark plug is still good This kit — points, condenser, and spark plug Complete ignition kit — adds the ignition coil and spark plug wire for a full ignition system rebuild Choose the kit that matches your service scope. INSTALLATION NOTES Set the point gap to Kohler specification (typically .020") using a feeler gauge, with the points at maximum opening on the cam lobe. Set the spark plug gap to specification before installing. After installation, verify ignition timing according to your Kohler service manual — on these engines, timing is affected by point gap, so the two should be set together. Keep the point contact surfaces clean and free of oil during installation.
